Kasabian Upset when Oasis Split up

November 27, 2009

Kasabian admit they were devastated when Oasis split up, because they were major fans of the Gallaghers.

The ‘Fire’ rockers even joined Noel and Liam as their tour support earlier this year, and were stunned when news of the guitarist walking out of the band hit headlines.

“Oasis breaking up was very, very sad.” Says frontman Tom Meighan. “We were gutted because they were our rock star heroes, when I was 16, 17 years old, they were my heroes.

“But they’ll both carry on doing what they do. It’s none of my business really, what they’re doing. I love them equally.”

There have been rumours that Noel may join Kasabian now he is without a band, but Tom says that isn’t the case.

“Well, it’s just ridiculous. It’s weird because we never, ever said Noel was going to join us.” Meighan said.

“It’s funny, but now we’ve got to answer to everyone and it gets a bit boring. You never know, because nothing’s out of the question.

“But really, no, Noel Gallagher isn’t joining Kasabian.”

Kasabian singer Tom Meighan has dismissed rumours suggesting that Noel Gallagher is to become the band’s new electric guitar player.

Speculation about what the future holds for the former Oasis guitarist and songwriter is rife, with some of it claiming he is planning to embark on a solo career in direct rivalry with his brother

Other reports suggested he intends to link up with Kasabian, a band he is known to be fan of.

Meighan, however, told the Daily Record the matter had not even been discussed, either by the band or with Noel.

He added: “It is flattering. I am really glad we did the recent stadium tour with Oasis because there is a piece of history there.”

Kasabian’s current electric guitar player Serge Pizzorno recently told Click Liverpool that the UK is short of proper rock bands since Oasis split up in the summer.

Pizzorno suggested that apart from Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian are the only worthwhile rock band in the country.
