One of the most controversial topics in bankroll management is the idea of a loss cap. A loss cap is a hard guideline set by the online poker player that they will leave the game if they find that they are losing too much in a poker game. Players who adhere to this philosophy typically set the cap at a percentage of their bankroll. The idea behind the cap is that it prevents players from chasing loses and ending up on tilt. On the other side of the equation we have the opponents of the loss cap. These players feel that setting an artificial cap will only stop good poker from being played. They argue that it is far more important to recognize whether you are playing well than to look at the actual dollar amount that your bankroll is being diminished by. These players argue that it is entirely possible to recuperate those loses at a good table if you are playing consistently well. If you walk away, you won’t get that chance. When you review both sides of the argument it is pretty clear that the second group of players is not advocating good strategy. They want to make you believe that you can easily win back what you lose. This is advocating the very dangerous idea of chasing your losses. Avoid the problem and stop when your losses get to be too much.
Should You Set a Loss Cap?
Chip Call
online poker sites automate all the action which prevents players from making mistakes, such as betting out of turn or making a wrong size bet. In live online poker rooms, players often make mistakes though and this can influence the outcome of a hand. Sometimes it is not clear if a player is calling a bet or raising it because the player puts in a chip that is larger than the bet. For instance, the bet is 100 and a player puts out a 500 chip in response to the bet. Does this represent a call or a raise? The rule is that when a higher denomination chip is put out in response to a bet, that chip represents a flat call unless the player announces a raise. The declaration of raise has to be made before the chip hits the betting line on the table. If no raise is announced, then it is considered a call. When players get excited about their poker hands, they sometimes forget about this rule and simply toss in the bigger denomination chip as a raise. In their haste, they neglect to announce and therefore have missed the opportunity to raise with a big hand. If two chips that exceed the initial bet are put into the pot, then this is considered a raise. When a raise comes out, it has to be at least double the blind or twice as much as the last raise. For instance, if the blind is 100, then the raise must be 200. If someone already raised it to 200, then the next raise has to be 100, making the bet 300. When playing live games, it is always wise to announce your intention to raise. Once said, it is binding. After you announce it, you can then take a few seconds to figure out how much to raise or ask the dealer what the minimum raise has to be.
Texture Bets
After the flop in Texas Hold ‘Em online poker , you must look at the board to see how it connects to your poker online hand and what possibilities it offers. For instance, if there are two to a suit out there, another player may make a flush if another card of that suit comes out. If you do have a online poker hand, you should ask yourself several questions before deciding how much to bet. First of all, how strong is your hand in regard to the other hands in play? If you hit a set, especially top set, then you’re probably holding the winner before the turn. With a strong hand, you can keep your bet smaller, about half the pot to lure more bets into the pot. A hand that is only of moderate strength, such as top pair, can warrant a bigger bet – perhaps three-quarters of the pot to make your opponents fold. In poker, you want the other players to fold hands that are potentially stronger than yours when more cards come out. If you hand is weak, perhaps middle pair, then bet the size of the pot to chase off any callers. Next thing to consider is how likely is it that your hand can improve? If you’re holding two pairs, you might hit the full house. You may also have a pair with a straight potential to come. This would warrant a bet half the pot. If a bet comes out ahead of you, then you must carefully study the board texture to determine what type of hand your opponent may be holding. If you are weak, it’s to best fold unless you have a draw with lots of outs.

Poker events on TV
I remember when the World Poker Tour started earlier this decade and first watching all the poker online events on TV. They featured great poker action, from casinos in exotic locales around the world, and got a high amount of viewership. At that time, it would have been hard to believe that the WPT would ever see financial losses. But then again, the so-called “poker boom” of earlier this decade has subsided and there’s not much interest in the casino game as there once was. In a sign of the times, World Poker Tour Enterprises reported reported a net loss of $3.3 million for the fourth quarter of 2008, contributing to a loss of $12.5 million for the full year, according to pokernews.com. The company reported $2.5 million less in revenues for the quarter compared to the same period a year ago, primarily driven by a change in the release pattern of its television broadcasts and lower international television license fees. While poker is certainly as popular worldwide nowadays as it was in 2004, it is still way more popular than it was in, say, 1997. I’m sure the WPT and other poker operators and tournament organizers will stabilize and continue to make money. While poker may never be as popular as it was five years ago, it is always going to be a very popular and successful worldwide game.
Recognizing Tilt
‘Tilt’ is a poker player’s worse enemy. More so even than luck of cards, playing online poker on tilt can quickly turn a profitable, level-headed player into one who has suddenly dropped a nasty chunk of his or her bankroll, built up over weeks or months or years, in a matter of hours. It’s like drunk driving for a card player, and can be the end of a poker career, if allowed to run on too far. Therefore, then, recognizing and controlling poker online tilt in your own game is as vitally important as any other method of bankroll management. Knowing when you have been knocked sufficiently off of your normal course of duty (such as taking an awful beat for a large pot, having a really bad run of cards, or cold cards, etc.) and then stepping out of the batter’s box is something all players have to learn to do. The first sign of tilt is that you are playing too many hands, calling and betting in hopes that you will luck into a winning hand, or that you will bluff your way to victory. There come moments, in these spells, where you acknowledge you are playing badly, and yet many players refuse to stop there. Learn to get up from the table when your A game has slipped down to a C or F and come back another day, when you’ve given your mind time to recover the temporary slip.

Craft Supplies
Tools are needed to make a craft or a piece of art worth looking at and giving it its true value. I think that it’s the creator’s mind which gives a craft its true worth. The supplies used in making any craft are usually additions to the original creativity displayed by the craftsman/woman and are not as central to the beauty or utility of the craft itself.
Creativity is probably the best supply one can have for creating a master craft. Crafts made by inspired, creative individuals (like Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo or even a villager in rural Thailand) continue to amaze us even if their genius materialized centuries ago. Human expression in crafts does not stop there and there will be crafts built today which will continue to inspire in the future. One question does come to mind, which is what makes a craft more and more appealing through the times? The answer lies in the makers’ hands themselves, there were fewer resources available in the olden days, the amusement and expression came out by building crafts using craft supplies (like wood, stone, chisels etc) which were rudimentary and basic in nature. And the more inspired the genius became, the better the end result.
It becomes easy to lose creativity over time but with the addition of different forms of tools and artifacts, better and better crafts can be made.
Nature has given us tools around us to use so now it’s in our own hands and hard work to use that tool to create better crafts. We all can make crafts we just need right scenes to make a different and unique one.
Continuation Betting in Heads up Poker
Obviously heads up poker is a very different story from playing at a full casino table. A lot of it comes down not to the cards you are dealt, but to how you and your specific opponent reacts to situations and to spots. In fact, one of the keys to succeeding in this venture is knowing or realizing the subtleties of your opponent’s game, how he acts in certain situations, and how much he varies.
The act of the standard continuation bet (betting on the flop after raising preflop, regardless of what comes) when in a heads up situation changes even more, it seems. While continually applied pressure often can be enough to succeed in the right spots, picking those spots and knowing when to relent is also key.
In judging whether to continuation bet, it’s always good to know the way a player tends to respond after the flop, based on past experience with him, or watching him play. Does the player tend to call continuation-style bets when they have a piece, or reraise? Do they check-raise often? How aggressive are they? How capable are they of restealing off your raise with a bluff when they know you are continuation betting and can make you lay down? Do they play numbers of feel? All of this info should be put to use before you go blindly continuation betting a heads up opponent every time just because most aggressive online poker players say it is what you should do.
Show Time
In an online poker game, after the last card is dealt, and the last bet made, it is time to declare a winner. Casino rules dictate that “cards rule” – meaning that players show their cards and this makes the winning hand apparent. The dealer then declares the official winner of the hand.
Sometimes there is no such showdown in a poker hand. If a player puts out a big bet, and no one calls, then that player wins and can toss the cards away without revealing the hand. However, when a bettor is called, a showdown is required to identify the winning hand. This sometimes raises controversy at the table. Players can get too attached to their hand and the way they played it, and that makes them reluctant to show it. They hate giving away any information about their playing strategy. When apoker player hesitates to reveal their hand, it is called “slow rolling” which is considered rude to the other players. It interrupts the flow of the game, and in timed tournaments, wastes precious seconds on the clock.
When a player calls a bet at the end of the round, that player is entitled to see the other player’s cards. The original bettor should cooperate and reveal the hand. If it is better that the caller’s, the caller can concede and just throw the cards away without revealing. If the caller has a better hand, then it should be revealed and declared the winner by the dealer.
