Right now I’m having 15Mb / 2 Mb FiOS Internet service installed for $49/montly. Time Warner’s road runner, the provider I had before actually offers the same price but the thing is, after the promo period ends, yes, you still have to pay the same amout but they only give 7 Mbs download / 384Kbs upload. Time Warner’s Road Runner also had various service problems, frequent downtime, and on one event Time Warner’s Road Runner cut my 1 1/2 year old service accidentally. It really caused me trouble.
Verizon FiOS is appealing, so far for me, because of it’s fiber optic high speed Internet. This means Verizon have to send technical guys to put fiber optic connection straight to my home. I actually find it interesting. The staff that are here today looks like they really know what they’re doing since I asked to many questions to satisfy my curiousity. These men attached a black fiber down the lobby , dug a hole in the lower ground of my studio room for the wiring, and then bind and stapled the black wire around the working room to where they’re going to affix it to their router-like endpoint. Once their through with that, they just have to merge the wire they strung into the main system operating into the house and I’ll have jaw dropping Internet connection everybody will envy.
Looking around the web for reviews or comments from people who have actually tried FIOS. I realized that those negative feedbback are focus on sabotaging the reputation of Verizon which makes it unrealistic. While other is just giving out half-baked comments on FiOS which is not a credible basis. And those giving out good criticism are either for marketing efforts or those that really had a good experience. Well you be the judge but once that installation is complet. I am going to provide a speedtest snapshot as proof.
Update: It is fast.NYC Speakeasy speed test report showed 10 Mb/s down and 1.8 Mb/s up, and a popular application like Azureus verified that you can really reach these speed. Here’s a snapshot as promised. I will absolutely recommend it, it’s more than what I expected it to be.
