Peaking into the Peak District: Holiday Cottages

November 24, 2009

The Peak District is a perfect escape from the stresses and strains of urban life. If you are from Sheffield or Manchester, it’s accessible within an hour going by train or car and a superb selection for a one or two day break, or even longer. If you’re travelling from further afield, we recommend you stay four or five days since there’s lots to see and do in the Peak District.

A lot of individuals affiliate the Peak District with the summertime, but it’s lovely the entire year, and in no other area of the UK are the four seasons more accentuated than in the Peak area.

As observed previously, there is lots of activities in the Peak area. The stunning hillsides entice travellers out of their cottages and into their walking boots, and there’s plenty of trails to tramp – as many as thirty clearly marked routes.

There’s also plenty of spots to try your luck at fishing in the Peak District, especially the Ladybower reservoir. Even if you’re not into physical activities, try Buxton for lunch and a stroll in their pavilion gardens, or the opera (yes, Buxton has its own Opera house). Not to forget the Castleton and Hathersage in the Hope Valley which are pretty.

So how to locate accommodation in the Peak District? We strongly recommend renting a Peak District cottage. Cottages are great in that they ensure you have the privacy of your own space, and the opportunity to unwind and relax with your family and friends in a comfy surrounding. The best place to find such holiday cottages is to utilise the internet. Type in a keyphrase like accommodation in the Peak District and you are sure to find lots of possible accommodation options.
