Doorway and Feeder Pages That Explode Your Traffic (Part 2)

August 29, 2008

Doorway pages are “Meet and Greet” professionals! Their job is to invite and welcome visitors and to direct them towards a site which is relevant to their needs and offers more information. In other words, to funnel traffic towards sites which are designed to convert traffic into revenue.

Proper design of these doorway pages is vital to their success. They are your frontline troops. However, instead of arming them with guns, they are designed to express enormous charm and visitor appeal! They are acceptable and appealing to human visitors as well as the search engines.

Some Useful Tips For Your Doorway Pages:

1. A doorway page should load quickly, to encourage the visitor to enter and explore the site instead of getting peeved and impatient, building resistance. So keep your graphics to a minimum. Banners and logo should be small and linked to the next level up – the sales page. Also include your keywords within the image “ALT” tag. Beneath your logo, prepare an intriguing sentence that you link to the next level.

2. Host your feeder sites cheaply. This can be done by signing up with a host that allows muliple, even “unlimited” domains on the one account, such as reseller accounts. Having multiple blogs serves a similar purpose. It’s possible to buy domain names very cheaply – around $5 each. Blog names are free.

3. If you use any questionable marketing (“black hat”) tactics, such as automatic page generating software, do not use them with your star and planet sites. Don’t risk having them banned. Likewise with your advertising accounts. If you display ads, such as Adsense, be sure that those sites are squeeky clean, so that you don’t risk your account.

4. Select three keyword phrases that closely describe the site (doorway page) you are designing. For instance, if the page is to be about dog training, you might have keyword phrases such as: dog training, obedience training, house training. Place these in your keyword meta tags, between the heading tags, of your web page source code. Separate each phrase with a comma.

5. Prepare a descriptive sentence about this site using the keyword phrases you’ve selected, such as: “Dog Training Course: Expert Tips For Successful House And Obedience Training.” Use this sentence for your DESCRIPTION meta tag. Note the initial caps.

6. For the TITLE meta tag, simply use your primary keyword phrase. For example: Dog Training.
Also suitable would be a line that includes the secondary keywords, separated with a pipe: Dog Training | Obedience Training | House Training

7. Place your keywords in the comments tag. This can be done throughout the web page as you organize your content.

Example:
!–Begin Dog Training Introduction–

!–End Dog Training Introduction

These are not visible on your web page but can be read in the HTML.

8. Provide valuable content that contains your keywords every couple of sentences. It does not need to be lengthy. It could be in the form of a comment, report or article of about 250 – 350 words. Your aim is to provide keyword rich, search engine friendly, useful material.

9. Save your doorway page using one of the keywords.

Example:

dog_training.html

If there are multiple pages, a number can be added to distinguish each one:

Example:

dog_training1.html

dog_training2.html

The power of doorway pages to attract website traffic comes from the valuable, keyword-rich content that you’ve designed to have BOTH search engine and visitor appeal. Of course, you don’t have to stop with just one page! Imagine the flow of website traffic if you have a hundred, or more, of these focused doorway pages, all feeding traffic to your site…

This article began in Part 1 with important details about a marketing strategy which utilizes doorway pages to generate a huge flow of traffic to selected websites in the system. Both parts are available online.

Radiation and Long-Term Space Flight

If mankind is to safely travel too and from other nearby Planets like Mars and eventually far beyond, then a solution to the radiation problem must be found. It would be nice to simply have a force field to delete the near spacecraft radiation, but that may not be so easy as it would draw significant energies, which might be in limited supply.

There are a number of theories being floated around on how to go about this dilemma; one recent theory in an online think tank was to re-align the X-Ray and Gamma Rays coming towards the space craft and send them into a spiral and fly thru the center.
How? Pulse Laser? This was one solution countering the idea of a energy hogging force field, as that maybe energy inefficient or highly unlikely.

One member of the think tank stated; “Indeed if we re-align them into a spiral and the once space craft flies thru allow them to re-unite in an imploding vortex and use that for propulsion behind you?”

Another recent idea floated in the online think tank was a special coating, which was reactive with the radiation on skin of the Spacecraft. The coating would collect it to use the radiation for power without hurting occupants? Perhaps heat generator. Or conversion to an acoustic transducer to excite molecules in an enclosure to produce energy or heat, generate electric power to charge battery system? Of course these are just a few of the many ideas being floated around out there, as they are in-progress abstract hypothetical thoughts, but perhaps may hold a potentially important piece of the puzzle. Consider this in 2006.

There Is No Substitute For Repetition

August 22, 2008

I’m chomping at the bit to get this one out. It’ll give you a head start to either strongly agree with me, or think that I absolutely don’t understand your situation (I do, and I’ll address it in a minute. Keep reading.) Here we go:

“There is no substitute for repetition, for studying and practicing basics correctly, over and over again. Period.”

The martial arts student who doesn’t regularly and diligently study and practice basics, and who hasn’t been taught how,

* From where can they be expected to develop the discipline to work through the tough times?

* Can they have the humbleness to continue learning and growing in martial arts?

* Can that student display effective leadership in your school?

Teaching students – and instructors – to slow down their minds and manage their world’s noise for each class is important. They have to know exactly what’s expected of them, what’s right and wrong. We teach discipline when the ‘right and wrong’ is re-enforced and corrected. For disruptive children’s behavior, obviously; “If you continue to talk during this exercise, ten push-ups!”

How, and why, do we teach discipline for the ages of about twelve and up, including adults? And, in fact, to bring the younger children’s behavior along to where the negative threat is rarely needed?

To give direction to my claim-in-bold, I looked up the word discipline(1).

1 – Training expected to produce a specific character or pattern of behavior, especially training that produces moral or mental improvement.

2 – Controlled behavior resulting from disciplinary training; self-control.

I’m stating unequivocally that the study of martial arts basics through repetition is how we should foster it. (Those two definitions and my statement apply to any discipline.) One has to practice a pattern of behavior to learn it, to repeatedly show self-control to understand and use it.

Can the student who doesn’t regularly study and practice (correct) basics develop the humbleness to continue learning and growing in martial arts? Some of the drop-outs don’t understand how and why to train with diligence; if they did some might still be training. I’m personally witnessing high ranked students who are not interested in looking at their basic problems, bad habits that will likely never be corrected. And, in my opinion, it has stunted some of their advanced learning potential. It’s disheartening to watch.

Some of these students are very good, even with bad habits. Can these high ranked karate-ka provide the leadership needed to build a strong school? The up-and-comers in line behind them, following the bad habits because the ‘right and wrong’ is not re-enforced and corrected, leave your school’s foundation weaker. The lower ranks, many who might not be as talented, need every bit of discipline they can get to be successful. They all know good martial arts when they see it, are taught it, and practice it. They need to be shown how discipline will carry them through those awkward beginnings; we all use discipline to “stick with it” during the tough times. So no, the improperly trained high ranks do not provide the leadership that they could, do not contribute to their school’s foundation in as meaningful a way as they should.

We instructors have to learn to teach our students how to build their strong martial arts foundation through the study of basics. There is a lot of talk about repetitive practice being boring. I realize we live in a fast, noisy world. Designing and practicing new combinations is fun for instructors and students; there are infinite ways to keep the study fresh. I’m with you on all that. But unfocused worry and reaction to dealing with boredom itself is avoiding the most important point, a point with a large influence on your, and your school’s, development. In learning a martial art,

“There is no substitute for repetition, for studying and practicing basics correctly, over and over again. Period.”

Tips And Advice When Starting Your Home Based Business

August 21, 2008

By Kirk Bannerman

There are a great many types of home based businesses and there
are numerous reasons why people choose to start a home based
business. Some of those reasons include:

1. Dissatisfied with their present employment situation.

2. Out of work due to being laid off or downsizing by their
employer.

3. A need to be home more with young children, an infirm family
member, or aging parents.

4. A yearning to be their own boss.

Whatever your particular reason for exploring a home-based
business, there are a few common steps you need to take in order
to launch your business.

First off, you need to come to grips with reality…be realistic
in your expectations. Far too many folks read advertisements
that are hype and imply quick money, and lots of it, from a
home-based business start-up. It will certainly take a year, and
in some cases it may take up to three years, before you begin to
truly make a significant profit from your business.

I have helped a large number of people start up their own
home-based businesses using the Internet. Over time, I have come
to recognize two of the most important factors for identifying
people that should NOT start a home based business. If a
prospective entrepreneur says something like…

“I’m broke and need to make some money, fast!”

or,

“I want to start a home-based business, but I don’t want to spend
anything on it until after I start earning some money.”

…it is certain that they have not addressed reality and, with
that mindset, they will most certainly fail.

It takes a lot of time to successfully market and promote a new
business. If you are planning a home-based business in order to
spend a lot of time with young children or care for the elderly, a
full-time business (and income) may not be a realistic objective.

Second, spend some time researching your business idea. Make sure
there is truly enough of a market for your product or service.
It’s easy to fall into the trap of having a hobby or passion for
something that you like to do and just assuming that you can turn
it into an economically viable business.

Third, learn as much as you can about small business. There is a
wealth of information available on this topic and the US Small
Business Administration is probably as good a place to start as
any. Just go to http://www.sba.gov/ and navigate to the sections
dealing with home based businesses.

Fourth, write a business plan. It is your roadmap to reaching
your objectives. There are numerous articles on the Internet
and in libraries that can assist you in developing your business
plan as well as addressing the many other issues involved with
starting and operating a business from home. As a starting
point, here are a couple of Small Business Administration
website locations that should prove useful:

http://www.sba.gov/starting/indexbusplans.html
http://www.sba.gov/library/pubs.html

And last, but not least, seek the advice of a tax professional.
Your first reaction may be that you can’t afford such expenses
right now; but, in reality, you can’t afford not to seek such
advice from the very beginning of your home business start-up.
They can advise you about ways you may be able to reduce the
amount of taxable business income at the end of the year.
Paying for an hour or two of consultation with a tax professional
at the beginning will probably save you much more than that
amount later on down the road.

I never cease to be amazed at the number of people that seem to
think that some magic is somehow created when you put the words
“home based” in front of the word “business”. It’s still
business…it just happens to be based in the home.

Drought in England? The farce that is the English Media

August 16, 2008

Over the last few weeks or so, it has been all over the English national papers how a drought has taken hold of England. It has covered all the front pages; yet, the supposed drought only actually affected a few regions in the very South East of England. The fact that it covered the pages of the national newspapers is ridiculous, the shortage which was minor at best which involved a few hose pipe bans is hardly something that should result in the scare mongering that took place in the papers! Guess what sure enough, we get a week of rain to top the reservoirs back up, “panic” over. There have always been dry periods as well as wet periods; it always has been that way!

The papers blame “global warming”, whether global warming actually exists is another question which I shall discuss in another article. Good reading regarding global warming is Michael Crichton’s ‘State of Fear’ which presents the facts as they are, although like any source of presented information, there is bias! That is another issue that I have with the English media, it is all biased, and often incorrect or irrelevant. How the world would and could improve given proper fair unbiased media coverage, if only!

Why do the media make such huge issues out of such minor problems, people are dying daily in Iraq, thousands are dying daily from Aids. Why can’t the English media realise that the world is larger than the southeast of England, it is a sorry and often depressing situation that we are more concerned about a slight drought in the south east of England than the poverty and tragedy of other areas of the globe which is happening day in day out throughout the world! It is a sorry state of affairs, but what can one person do to change this, very little!

Fact: Men are more clever, work harder and deserve to earn more money than women in the work place…and they make better drivers! Increasing Your Car’s Value

Sometimes when we would want to buy a new car, we would like to dispose of our old car first. We do this to give us more flexibility in our cash room. However we must not fall into the trap of trading in our cars with the car dealer as we can get more money out of it by selling it ourselves. This article will give you tips on how to sell your car and get more value out of it.

The first step you do is figure out how much you can sell it by comparing it to cars that are of the same model like yours in your area. Try to narrow your search by looking at the zip codes. The further the car you compare it with the more likely the price will be different. Look for them on the internet or on newspaper ads. If the car you compare with has got some other specifications, try to take that into consideration that his car value will be higher.

The next step is to clean the engine. It is important to clean the car engine because most people will look under the hood. You will need to check the fluids. Also be sure to tighten the belts and make sure there are no noises. Replace the spark plugs if needed.

If the engine and engine compartment is dirty, first cover up the other electronic stuff and distributor with plastic bag or foil and use a spray engine cleaner. The most important thing for you to remember is what the customer sees will be his or her first impression. So it is important to clean the things under the hood that the customer can see. This includes the battery, radiator and hoses.

The next thing for you to do is clean your car’s exterior. First clean of the body by washing all the dirt and removing all the bugs, including the windows. If you need to touch up the paint later, don’t wax it first. If the lights are broken, replace it. If the windshield is cracked very bad replace it, try to canvass because windshields cause a lot. If it is only a small crack don’t bother replacing it, especially if the car’s value is low.

Spray the wheels with exterior silver spray paint if the wheels are just steel without any exterior. Then fill the tires up with the proper psi as shown on sidewalls of the tire. Also get stuff that makes the tires shinier and blacker at tire shops. For the scratches and match spots, touch up using Cu-tips with matching paint. For the exterior trim and bumpers, apply Armorall.

By being able to make your car look good when the buyer sees it, even when it really is old. The value may increase a lot and you may have a few extra cash to pocket with.

Home Relaxation – Stop And Take A Break

August 14, 2008

Home relaxation has become increasingly necessary because more and more people are working from home. The biggest challenge with home relaxation is that your home is your office. What that means is that the dividing line between home and work can become hazy and you can very easily get caught up in work and neglect your other duties.

Home relaxation when incorporated into your day provides a way for you to enjoy the longevity and vibrancy of life.

Having a soak in the tub, cooking, gardening, watching TV or washing the dishes are all forms of home relaxation.

Home relaxation can be even more challenging if you have children. You will need to find the time to juggle your responsibilities as a father with your professional responsibilities. One way in which you can do this is to be focused. When you are focused you only do what is necessary at the moment.

If you are all over the map putting out fires, then you will be distracted.

Home relaxation helps you to find the time to focus when you get all caught up in work so that you can enjoy the longevity and the vibrancy of life.

Home relaxation in order to be effective needs to be one of your scheduled daily activities. This is possible in your busy day because of Ipods, portable CD players and lap top computers. It is now very easy to play relaxation CDs in your home. It is profoundly important that you follow a daily routine for home relaxation because you may not be aware of how long you have been working without taking a break.

A daily schedule for home relaxation ensures that you find more time to take a break, breathe and focus. This break prevents you from getting totally immersed in work at the expense of your health.

This home relaxation break allows you to have the time to enjoy the longevity and the vibrancy of life.

In conclusion:

Home relaxation especially for the work at home person is critically important because it is very easy to get lost in work when working from home. Home relaxation helps you find the time to take a break so that you can breathe and stay focused. If this break is taken on a daily basic you will have more time to enjoy the longevity and the vibrancy of your life.

Big Players Bring High Speed Gaming Laptops to the Masses

August 13, 2008

It was not too long ago when only a couple of brands produced gaming laptops. I very much doubt they sold in any ground breaking volumes but they certainly produced lots of revenue for the companies. The most sought after laptops were the ones that were too pricey to think of purchasing. They were evidently the best laptops that the technology could offer at that time. Although they did get everybody excited I do not think they sold well because not many people actually buy laptops that are expensive. As the giant computer brands appreciate the potential profits in gaming portables, the industry is altering.

They are aware there is revenue to be made here. They could control the sector. At this point in time the markup on the majority of laptops are so marginal that this presents a golden chance to get back the gross margins. Little resellers are unable compete with them in swaying potential buyers to buy laptops. I am trying to think what the the reaction from littler system builders will be. I am already noticing some price drops. I am pretty certain that the giant brands will try to force the little ones out. People just feel tons more at ease making a large purchase from a familiar name.

I reckon they certainly are releasing a few of the best laptops out to buy. I believe this would still be the encouraging benefit for littler resellers though. The customisation service is an enormous plus to the customer. Normally many comparisons of the tech specs will be carried out and the techies can say what the better system actually is. In my view I believe consumers care more about the speed instead of design.

This is all really good from the consumers perspective. In the end, the prices will be dropped even more making premium technology to be a choice that we can afford. Though I say that, I am not so sure of my predictions. I am not confident if the whole price of laptops will decline but the latest laptops are usually at particular price points. Although I still reckon effects will be positive because of the saturated sector, we will have to wait and see.

Check out http://www.rizeon.com as they are providing some extremely high spec laptops for the prices.

Old Bands Are Hard to Find Shirts for

August 11, 2008

If you like older bands, Im talking about the cure, black flag, instead of these newer bands, like Back street boys, then good luck finding there shirts.

One thing that has become a real problem in the music world is that the marketing departments from all of the giant labels get to really influence the industry as far as what products are for sale in various websites. This means that not only are you having a harder time getting to see your favorite band in convert, but it will be hard to find there shirt at target or hot-topic.

One of the best ways to find your shirt of choice is to use google. Just search for your bands name + t-shirt and you will be able to find it real fast. I would recommend actually going through this Band t-shirt website. With merch.com I have had good results thus far. If you want to find a site that will be easier to find product on you can always use google products or another form of search.

What I do NOT recommend is using a site like amazon.com. With sites like that you will have trouble finding the stuff you want for a price you can afford. Stick to the smaller brand sites (with good designs) and you will have a much easier time.

I do recommend also reading some blogs while you are surfing around. This way you can get a clear idea as to what other people are looking for in the industry.
